Sunday Night Thoughts

Well its a typical Sunday night up here at IUP. As I look around I see all my people chilling, eating (fat asses lol) , watching TV, laughing, and joking. It's a pretty chill night. The one thing that I have noticed about college is that everyone can have a good time doing the simplest things. It seemed like if it didn't pertain to buying something, going out, or just spending money on nonsense, people weren't interested. It feels good..

Back Like I Never Left.

I know it has been a while since a have last posted on here, but I have really been busy guys lol. Just so you know I'm not lying let me fill you in. Well I have been at IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) for about a week now. As hard as it was to leave my family back in Philadelphia, I knew that in the long run it'll all pay off. And in fact, I am adjusting well. The people up here are actually amazing. For the first time in my life, everyone around me is kind, respectful, and likes to have fun. Something I have been craving for a while..This college atmosphere is terrific! People genuinely like to enjoy themselves, do their work and just live life. I think that might be the most important part of my last sentence... "enjoy life". Ever since I have been up here I have been doing just that. Going out, meeting new people, playing sports, laughing smiling. All the time. It's as if I have a new appreciation for everything around me. It is a nice change... and NO.. I have not stopped making music. I just needed time to get settled. Actually, today I started writing a new song. It's definitely one of my best thus far. Oh, and also my song "Lord Knows" got played at 2 parties and everyone seemed to like it!  Well I just wanted to update you guys, and also give myself  chance to reflect. Be save goners. -Gone

Reception of Lord Knows

Well as you may know tonight me and T-Fly released our freeverse over "Lord Knows" by Drake and Rick Ross. At first I wasn't too sure about how everyone would feel about it because first off, it was a Drake song, (Which I knew would receive even harsher criticism) and always my lyric subject matter. In my verse I mentions a few things about my dad that I felt was pretty personal, but music is my way of venting so i felt it was necessary. Anyway, everyone seemed to love the song! I have never had so many people call me talented before when referring to my music! It feels great knowing that all those late nights up writing and studio sessions were all worth it. Another thing that was surprising is how much love we received from those at Cheltenham High School. Typically people who go to school with you never take what your passionate about seriously, but this time they all seemed to feel the music. It was great knowing that even know I'm leaving for college in a few weeks, some people back at home will have my back no matter what... and to those who don't, well have fun hating because it only makes me stronger!    - Gone

Saturday Nights...

So, I just got in from a LONG night... well let me summarize it for you all really fast because it brought me to some deep thoughts. Well me and the AC Gang went to this party tonight, everyone pretty much was there. It was nice seeing everyone I know before I get ready to go off to college in a few weeks. Anyway, the cops came and shut it down. I wasn't really surprised but it was still disappointing. After that, us along with the company of a few others went out to dinner. It was great getting a chance to reminisce on old times and stories previously forgotten.. Memories. But I think the best part of the even was the in depth conversations we all had about our musical aspirations and ambitions. It's crazy when you look around and see that everyone in your circle all is working towards a common goal...Success. Hard work. Dedication. Drive. Passion. All these words sum up my circle... Late Night Thoughts #1

It's about 1 am, and like usual I'm still up. But tonight seems different. I can't quite figure out why though. It just is. Even my thoughts seem to differ from the norm. As I sit here and listen to music and look at my timeline on Twitter I can't help notice one thing. Everyone on my timeline is giving each other hell. Now, usually I wouldn't pay it any mind but tonight is different. Its not the playful, joking, funny "hell", instead its the judgmental, mean spirited ,bullying type of hell. It's so stupid. Maybe it's the fact that I've just graduated, but to me things like that are just immature. Like, why go out of your way to say something about someone else to intentionally hurt their feelings? That just seems horrible. Now, I'm not saying that I've never done this, but actually looking at it and reading it makes me want to make sure I stop. It just seems pointless and unnecessary in my opinion. I don't know... I just needed to say that.

I knew we had pretty good lyrics but I wasn't sure how people would respond to Asher Roth's old school styled beat. But it was widely accepted. Thoughts on the OCD: Moosh and Twist Concert Last Night

To start off, I had a wonderful time at the concert last tonight. The atmosphere in the building was amazing. It was so nice to be in a venue like TLA. Inside, you are right there with the performer, almost on the same level which adds to the entire experience. There were a number of groups who opened up for OCD as well. They were all really unique and dope, and had no problem getting the crowd into into their acts. I especially enjoyed the performance of the rapper Spiff E, he brought a creative sound into his music that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a shame that his act was cut short due to technical difficulties. But the entire show was magnified by 100 when OCD finally hit the stage, The entire crowd went nuts! Bananas! Ironically the DJ through bananas into the crowd lol, it was quite humorous. The night was very eventful, full of water being thrown, crowd surfing, and hearing NEW music from their upcoming mixtape. OCD put on a hell of a show at TLA, a concert I will not forget.

Success: At what Cost

As I am sure most of you are aware, lately there has been a growing trend of artist being signed or "blowing up" all because of ONE song or humorous video posted on a mass media site (YouTube , Worldstarhiphop, etc..)  It seems as though as long as an artist has some sort of gimmick, the industry will embrace them with open arms because it is seen as a marketable or profitable opportunity. I honestly think it is sad. It is sad because it takes the spotlight away from the thousands of artist out there with so much unseen talent. As I shake my head and write this blog entry, I can not seem to find a reason why we as a people are attracted to such "artist" even though we know they are terrible. It is as if their gimmicky add libs, catch phrases, outrageous outfits, or bizarre private life's are enough to make us jump at any opportunity to get a glimpse into their mind. Well whatever it is, is causing many "rappers" and "singers" to shine in the spotlight, while those with talent are left in the dark...

Been A While

Wow. I really haven't posted a blog here in over 2 months... I have seriously been slacking. Well... not completely. Let Me Fill You In

Now as you might have been able to tell, I haven't been posting anything new on here lately. As much as I love blogging and updating you guys, it was almost impossible for me to do so and here is why. First off, I have been bust writing for my newest project. This is a long and tedious process because as soon as I think I am done, I figure out a better way to improve the song. And this is one thing I love about music. It can always be changed. Secondly, I have been working on "Consider Us: Musicans" . This is a 30 minute film that will walk you through why Consider This formed, why we rap, what people think of us, interview other rappers, show performances as just show us having fun. I feel that this film will be a great way to show people how thing are behind the music. By this I mean explain what we as musicians go through and show us through our highs and our lows. Nevertheless, I made my way back on blogger and I plan on staying... Even if my computer is broke aha... - Gone
